Event Content, Community and Collaborations

Honestly, it's not difficult to find a venue in Barcelona. The challenge is actually choosing between so many stunning options.

What to choose?!

In this episode of the Venue Experience, I head inside the legendary MACBA (Museum of Contemporary Art). Don't overlook this modern building in your search for a venue in Barcelona. Located in the historic Raval neighborhood, it truly has a space for everyone.

INTRODUCTION

It sits right on the Plaça dels Àngels which is a popular and authentic open-air space for the people of Barcelona.

The building was designed by Richard Meier and opened in 1995. It’s a stunning white structure, and acts as a blank canvas for modern, elegant events of just about any size.

Most groups choose the MACBA for 3 Reasons:

  1. The Location - It sits right in the heart of the Raval neighborhood, a short walk to the city's iconic Las Ramblas. It’s hard to find such a flexible event space in such a central location.
  2. The Architecture - The contemporary art museum is one of Barcelona’s most iconic buildings, and the stunning design makes a great impression on guests.
  3. The History - Sitting across the Plaza, the Gothic convent provides a sharp contrast to the modern art museum. It’s been beautifully restored, and is a hidden gem.

THE SPACES

#1 - The Atrium
The Atrium is the most emblematic space in the Meier building. It’s 3 stories high and 500 square meters in size, and connects all the museum’s public galleries.

As soon as you step inside, you’re impressed by the magnificent architecture, the incredibly high ceilings, and the impressive glass wall.

It can fit up to 600 people in cocktail format, or up to 300 people seated for dinners. Truly a unique space for large format events.

#2 - The Meier Terrace

The perfect spot for a small cocktail for up to 80 people. It sits above the Plaça dels Àngles, where your guests can enjoy privileged views of the square.

A proper theater that can hold up to 200 guests. Thanks to the Auditorium’s state-of-the-art equipment, It’s ideal for presentations, lectures, conferences and screenings. It has private access, and the set up can be modified depending on your needs.
